Clinical summary

No single shoe fixes plantar heel pain. Shoes with a firm heel counter, moderate cushioning, adequate torsional rigidity, and some forefoot rocker may reduce load on the plantar fascia. Fit and the rest of the treatment plan matter more than brand.

Patient view: plain-language reading.

The features we test

Our evaluation focuses on heel counter stiffness, torsional rigidity, midsole geometry, heel-to-toe drop, and whether the shoe accepts a removable orthosis.

How to use this guide

Footwear is one part of care that usually also includes stretching, loading exercise, and activity changes. See a podiatrist if heel pain lasts more than a few weeks or started after an injury.
